What Is Organic Farming?

This farming method relies on agricultural techniques that are far more environmentally friendly than conventional ones, which often use:

Genetically modified organisms
Food additives
Livestock antibiotics
Hormones and other plant growth regulators
Pesticides
Fertilizers

Instead, farmers rely on the use of biological pest control, composting, green manure and crop rotation to grow or raise produce and livestock that are free of chemicals that can damage the environment and even put your health at risk with enough exposure. They do still however rely on tractor service and other modern agricultural tools.

The benefits of organic farming are many. Example, the nutritional content of organic food is much higher than that of more conventionally grown produce because such an emphasis has been placed on soil management, which leads to an increase in minerals and vitamins. As mentioned earlier, harmful chemicals are also avoided, which can not only damage the soil but the surrounding environment as well because of runoff.

Produce also lasts longer when grown with more natural methods because the metabolic and structural integrity of their cellular structure is superior to that of conventionally grown crops.
